Thoughts from Chairman Dave McMullan and Vice Chair Paula Lonergan in honor of Cinco de Mayo:

Today is a day to remember the sacrifice and courage of those who fought with the Mexican Army, against tremendous odds, to successfully overcome the French forces in their country on May 5, 1862. Cinco de Mayo is not only a day of celebration, but also one in which we can reflect upon the extraordinary achievements and rich cultural heritage of Mexican-Americans who enrich our Party, our communities and our state.

Cinco de Mayo should be a day in which we recognize the influence and contributions that Mexican-Americans continue to make in our state and nation. Their hard work and dedication to faith and family is aspirational. Today, our hope is that everyone will join us in celebrating the rich heritage and culture of Mexican-Americans as well as other Hispanics that reside in our county. We also want to recognize and extend our gratitude to the brave Mexican-Americans who have selflessly served our country with honor and distinction, who have willingly put their lives on the line along with other Americans to secure this great nation we call the United States of America.
